About AVCB
The Australian Veterinary Conservation Biologists (AVCB) is a special interest group (SIG) of the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA), and has been in existence for over 15 years when Tony English and colleagues established a small group of interested conservationists. Its membership since then has grown to be over 150-strong. Its role, purpose and aims have also developed over this period to include the following:
- To provide a forum for those veterinarians involved in any aspect of conservation biology, in order to enhance the contribution of veterinary science in the field of wildlife and resource management, and animal welfare.
- To encourage research and development of veterinary conservation biology.
- To promote co-operation between veterinarians, other biologists, administrators, researchers and research and teaching institutions.
- To provide continuing education programs for veterinarians and others involved in conservation biology.
We hope that this website will assist in providing the means to achieve some of these aims, and act as a forum and tool for members to keep informed and in contact about current issues. This will be in addition to the electronic newsletters, seminars and other events organized by AVCB members across the country. This is your way to keep in touch!
